Leila Earleane Ducksworth Phillips

Leila Earleane Ducksworth Phillips, 84, of Demopolis died Saturday, Feb. 22 at Hospice of West Alabama.

She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Marengo County to the late Zack and Maggie Essie Ducksworth. She was a former employee at Vanity Fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zack and Maggie Essie Ducksworth; and sister, Louise Ducksworth.

She is survived by her husband, Edward (Eddie) Phillips; daughers, Lynn (Dean) Agee of Monroeville and Sondra Couch of Demopolis; sons, Larry (Linda) Phillips of Gallion and Mack (Betty) Phillips of Bailey, Miss; niece, Janet (Raymond) Vice of Birmingham; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Rangeline Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Smith and the Rev. Randall Smith officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Morris Samples, James Lancaster, Duane Andrews, Mike Claunch, Buster Ward and Jerry Hannah.

Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and doctors and DCH, employees at Hospice of West Alabama and the Mae Samples Sunday School class.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rangeline Baptist Church.
