UWA men’s tennis continues winning streak

The West Alabama men’s tennis team stretched its winning streak to 13 matches by taking care of Carthage College, 9-0, Monday.

West Alabama, ranked No. 23 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, had to battle some in singles against Carthage, a member of NCAA Division III.

The Tigers improved to 17-1 overall by beating the Red Men, 8-1. Carthage College dropped to 10-6.

The Tigers had to work for wins in singles matches one through three, with Adam Drysdale winning 6-3, 7-5, Anton Ivanov 6-2, 7-5 and Simon Bardell squeaking by Pawel Jaworski, 7-5, 7-6.

West Alabama had little trouble in doubles, or singles matches four through six.

The Tigers remain on the road Tuesday, traveling to St. Augustine, Fla., to take on Flagler College at 2 p.m.
