UWA men’s tennis defeats Flagler

The West Alabama men’s tennis team extended its winning streak to 14 matches, winning for the third straight time on its current spring break excursion to Georgia and Florida, defeating Flagler College, 6-3, Tuesday at the Flagler Tennis Center.

Ranked 23rd nationally, West Alabama is 18-1. Flagler dropped to 5-13.

Nestor Vargas, Anton Ivanov and Adam Drysdale had a hand in five of UWA’s six wins, winning No. 1, 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Drysdale and Ivanov took No. 1 doubles, while Vargas and Kike Ruiz teamed up for a win in No. 2 doubles. Manuel Grossmann completed the list of Tiger victors by winning at No. 5 singles.

The Tigers put their win streak on the line again Thursday against 25th-ranked Florida Southern in Orlando. Match time is 2:30 p.m.
