Youth baseball, softball seasons wrapping up with playoffs

The Demopolis Youth Baseball playoffs are under way and, weather permitting, two championship games will be played Friday night.

On Monday in the 8U playoffs, the Windham Blue Jays defeated the Jennings Indians 6-0 to advance to the second round. The F&F Reds defeated the Lions Rockies 6-1 to advance as well.

On Tuesday night, the Blue Jays faced the Naheola Credit Union Dodgers, and the Rockies faced the Indians in an elimination game.

In the 10U playoffs, the Collins Communications Cubs defeated the Trustmark Braves 12-4 to advance.

The Batter Up Brewers defeated the Southern Pipe Marlins 15-8 to advance as well.

On Tuesday, the Braves faced the Marlins in an elimination game and the Cubs faced the Brewers for a spot in the championship series.

In the 12U playoffs, the Traeger’s Red Sox defeated the MTPS Yankees 20-5 to stay in the winner’s bracket, and the Malone’s Cardinals defeated the Mason and Gardner Mets to advance.

The Mets and Yankees played Tuesday night in an elimination game, and the Red Sox faced the Vowell’s Rangers.

The 8U championship series and the 10U championship series will begin Friday at 5:30 p.m., and a second game will be played at 7:30 p.m. if necessary.

The 12U championship series will begin Monday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday, May 20 at 5:30 p.m. if necessary.

The standings at the end of the regular season for each of the three divisions were as follows:

11/12 year old standings

•Vowell’s Rangers 11-1

•Malone’s Cardinals 7-4

•Mason and Gardner Mets 6-5

•Traeger’s Red Sox 4-7

9/10 year old standings

•Trustmark Braves 8-1

•Batter Up Brewers 5-4

•Collins Communications Cubs 1-10

7/8 year old standings

•Naheola Credit Union Dodges 8-1-1

•Lions Rockies 8-3

•F&F Reds 7-3

•Jennings Indians 2-9

•Windham Blue Jays 1-10-1

The Demopolis Dixie Youth Softball League playoffs also started Monday and will conclude over the weekend.

The Darlings and Angels leagues will play their championship series’ Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. The Ponytails league will play its championship series Friday, May 16 at 5:30 p.m.
