Canebrake Players to hold summer musical auditions
The Canebrake Players will hold auditions for its summer musical Sunday and Monday.
Kirk Brooker will direct this year’s musical, which will be announced during auditions.
“Our summer musical promises to be a summer of fun,” Brooker said.
Auditions are Sunday, June 1 at 3 p.m. and Monday, June 2 at 6 p.m. Ages 16 and up are needed for this show.
If auditioning for a singing role, you will be expected to sing at auditions. 1980s music is encouraged. You can sing with accompaniment or a cappella.
Those auditioning for a dance role will need to learn and execute simple choreography taught at auditions.
If auditioning for a non-singing role, you will be expected to read a scene or perform a prepared monologue.
The four planned show dates are Friday, Aug. 1-Monday, Aug. 4.
Last year, Canebrake put on “Return to the Forbidden Planet,” which is a sci-fi version of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” In 2012, they staged Lionel Bart’s classic “Oliver!”
