Marengo County Commissioner John Crawford looks to have avoided a runoff for another term.
Crawford won Tuesday’s primary with 800 votes, or 51.09 percent.
“I feel relieved, happy. I just feel great,” Crawford said. “I love the job.”
Crawford assures citizens that he intends to continue “to do the best job he can do.”
Crawford ran alongside Terry Hinton and Billie Jo Eatmon.
Hinton earned 612 votes (39.08 percent), while Eatmon garnered 154 votes (9.83 percent.)
Second-place finisher Hinton said he plans to run again in 2018.
“I just want to thank the citizens of Marengo County who voted for me,” Hinton said. “I will try again in another four years.”
Eatmon could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Incumbents Freddie Armstead and Michael Thompson ran unopposed in Marengo County Commission Districts 1 and 5, respectively.
