A VA-sponsored outreach for local veterans will be held Tuesday, June 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital. The event will be sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the Birmingham Veteran Center.
Veterans who attend the event will be provided with information on services made available to them through the Tuscaloosa VA and other agencies.
Those services include mental health services, job training and opportunities, women’s programs, telemedicine, My HealtheVet, rural veteran’s programs, primary care services, homeless programs and student veteran programs.
Veterans and family members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
“We hope by bringing information about the VA health care to the Demopolis community, those who may have been interested but have not sought out information before will be able to come visit with us to learn about the services they have earned through their service to our country,” said Damon Stevenson, spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa VA. “Veterans from Demopolis and the surrounding communities have served our country with honor, and now it is our turn to serve them.”
