Lillie Bell Fikes Burford, 98, of Greensboro, died Thursday, July 10, at her daughter’s home.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1915, in Perry County. She retired as a nursing assistant from Greensboro Nursing Home.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel with elder Luke Laird officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Burford; son, Robert E. Burford; great-granddaughter, Hannah Rogers; parents, Elmer Fikes and Velma Clements Fikes; brother, Raymond Fikes; and seven sisters, Bama Averett, Ora Johnson, Bessie Cole, Myrtle Drake, Elizabeth Crawford, Dorothy Combs and Evelyn Scarborough.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanette Burford (Kenneth) Payne of Greensboro; sister, R.T. Gardner of Myrtlewood; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Burdette Payne, Bradley Payne, Gereg Burford, Gregg Wadsworth, Grant Wadsworth and Billy Drake.
