A man was shot late Saturday night in Demopolis following a domestic dispute.
Demopolis police officers responded to a shooting at 915 Patterson Street at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17.
When they arrived, officers found Mark Gamble, 29, had been shot in the hand and in the side.
The shooting occurred due to a domestic altercation between Gamble and Brittany Lee, who came to pick up her child, according to a press release.
Gamble, who is the baby’s father, refused to let the child go and threatened to hit Lee and her grandfather, Harry Jones, with a brick.
According to DPD Public Information Officer Monica Oliver, Jones then shot Gamble, who was transported to Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.
Jones was later arrested and charged with first-degree assault with the assistance of the Hale County Sheriff’s Office.
No further information is available as officers continue to investigate.
