Demopolis BOE votes to redeem CD for new programs
The Demopolis City Schools will purchase new physical education equipment, new track and field equipment and two new reading programs.
The Demopolis Board of Education voted Monday morning in a called meeting to redeem a Certificate of Deposit worth $156,773.88 to purchase the new equipment.
Griffin said the reading programs are to help the school system get “up to speed with the College and Career Ready Standards.”
The physical education equipment and track and field equipment are upgrades needed by the programs.
“This is a small CD that has matured, and there’s no penalty for us to redeem it,” Griffin said.
