Jimmie Key Marlowe, 87, of Linden, passed away Monday, March 16, at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born Nov. 20, 1927, in Aliceville to the late Matthew Levert and Mary Key Marlowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Levert and Mary Key Marlowe; sister, Louise Braswell; two brothers, Charles and Claude Barger; and one grandson, Jeremy Key Marlowe.
He is survived by his wife of 62 loving years, Jean Daniel Marlowe; daughter, Pat Ward of Linden; sons, Jimmy (Janet) Marlowe of Gallion, and James Kenneth (Rebecca) Marlowe of Demopolis; sisters, Lucille Luker and Judy Hodo; brother, Dale Barger; grandchildren, Jennifer Lauderdale of Mobile, Jeff (Heather) Ward of Linden, Jim (Leigh Ann) Witherspoon of Greensboro, Savannah (Steven) Holtzclaw of Demopolis, Olivia Leigh Hall of Demopolis and Jason Marlowe of Demopolis; and great-grandchildren, Cayden James Ward, Marlowe Witherspoon, Grace Witherspoon, Jami Witherspoon, Mazzy Marlowe, William M. Barkley, Stephen A. Barkley, Arianna Holtzclaw, Rebecca Kate Hall and Crawford Hall.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Marlowe, Jim Witherspoon, Jeff Ward, John Ward, Thomas Barger and Jacob Barger. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ronnie Chu and his staff, and Mr. Marlowe’s wonderful and caring sitters, Tomasena Waters, Wanda Garner and Ms. Della.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Green officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service. Burial will follow in Linden at Linden Memorial Park.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association national office at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or the charity of one’s choice.
