Color run to benefit DHS Quarterback Club

It’ll be a colorful sight Saturday when runners in the Demopolis Quarterback Club’s Color Me Blue Run 5K cross the finish line.
Runners will get doused with colorful powders at five stations around the race path, in a unique fundraiser where proceeds will benefit the Demopolis High School football program.
“We’ve always tried to do things that were centered around the community,” said quarterback club president Dennis Spence. “We’ve done circus and rodeos in the past, and it’s always been a goal of ours to bring something to the community, so we are just tickled about the community involvement.”
Spence said the money is needed because funding for the football program has to be raised locally and this run, which is in its second year, is a great way to do that.
“It’s extremely important to be able to equip our young people the way they need to be,” Spence said.
The run will take place at 8 a.m. at the Demopolis Sportsplex Pavilion. All runners are asked to arrive 30 minutes before the race.
Registration for the race is $25 per person and can be completed the morning of the race or by dropping a registration form off at Demopolis Middle School, Demopolis High School, U.S. Jones Elementary School or Westside Elementary School.
Free T-shirts will be given out on a first come, first served basis that will be determined by the order in which people registered. Everyone who registered by May 1 is guaranteed a T-shirt.
Checks are asked to be made payable to Demopolis Quarterback Club.
