Ruthie Mae Jones, 79, passed away Friday, July 30, 2015.
Ruthie Mae was born Jan. 4, 1936 in Marengo County to the late Straughter and Jewery Vell Dixon. She confessed to Christ at an early age and joined New Greater First Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health failed.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Sam Jones Jr. and five siblings, Catherine Holt, Beatrice, Earnest, Straughter Jr., Ezell and Benny Dixon.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories 12 children: Nadene (Benjamin) Sanders, Doris Dixon, Alex Dixon, Lillie Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Felicia (OJ) Harper, Kim Jones and Eric Jones, all of Thomasville, Beverly Watson and Wendell Dixon, both of Huntsville, Alabama, Gerald Jones of Mobile, Alabama, Jamie (April) Jones of Morvin, Alabama; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carolyn Pettaway of Montgomery, Marie Crum of Huntsville, and Marilyn Dixon of Copperas Cove, Texas; three brothers, William E. Dixon, Alfred J. Dixon, both of
Thomasville, and Woodie Dixon of Brookpart, Ohio; three half-sisters, Dorothy James, Viola James both of Massillon, Ohio, Bessie Hollandsworth of Ochelata, Oklahoma; an uncle, TJ Dixon of Detroit, Michigan; an aunt, Dora Blackmon of Dixons Mill; one devoted friend, Rena Mae McDaniel of Thomasville; a special friend Ethel Whittaker of Gainestown, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, August 5 at the New Greater First Baptist Church of Thomasville from 11 a.m. to the 1 p.m. funeral hour with Elder Brady Bennett officiating. Interment followed in the Payne Chapel Cemetery of Dixons Mills.
