Alabama School of Fine Arts to perform at DHS

The Alabama School of Fine Arts Music Department will present their Spring Gala Concert at Demopolis High School on April 21 at 6:30 p.m. The concert is presented by the Two Rivers Arts Council.
The concert will feature the ASFA Orchestra, conducted by Kimberly Strickland, and the ASFA Jazz Ensemble which is conducted by Dr. Robert Janssen. The two ensembles are comprised of the some of the most talented young musicians from across the state of Alabama and abroad who have auditioned to be students in the reputable music department at ASFA. The students range from seventh through twelfth grades and are trained to perform some of the most challenging and demanding repertoire for their instrument.
The evening’s concert will be comprised of music from the classical period through more modern music. Selections will include music by Herbie Hancock, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Antonin Dvorak and W. A. Mozart. For more information about the school and its programs visit www.asfa.k12.al.us
