Biggs was in his final year of his first term as Forkland’s mayor, having been elected in 2012. Ollie Vester, a member of the Forkland Town Council for about seven years and mayor pro-tem will be filling Biggs’ role. Vester said the loss of Biggs is being felt throughout the community.
“He was a very devoted and hard-working mayor. He did a lot of things for our town. He was helping with our roads and senior citizens programs. He was a very nice person and a hard worker,” Vester said.
Funeral services for Mayor Biggs will be held Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church in Forkland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, according to an obituary by Julia White Funeral Home in Uniontown.
