Gaye ‘Gran’ Griffin

Gaye “Gran” Griffin, 76, of Demopolis passed away May 30, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama.
Mrs. Griffin was born June 1, 1939 in Cullman, Alabama to the late Richard and Emma Speegle.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lincoln Speegle, Dan Speegle and Charlie Speegle; and sister, Ellen Speegle Spradling.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Griffin of Demopolis; daughter, Jean Qualls (JB) of Demopolis; son, Jeff Griffin (Michele) of Gardendale; sisters, Katherine Foote of Hartselle, Louree Cason of Holly Pond and Geraldine Bates (Arnold) of Gardendale; brother, Elwin Speegle (Paulette) of Oneonta; grandchildren, Ashley R. Hutton (Scott), Jordan Reffett (Sarah) and Caroline Griffin; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Chandler, Peyton, and Lawson Hutton.
Graveside service will be Thursday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Demopolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Don Smith officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the service.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hutton, Jordan Reffett, JB Qualls, Haywood Mayton, Josh Weeks and Allen Broadhead.
Honorary pallbearers will be Manderson Cancer Center, Hospice of West Alabama, Jackson Chandler, Peyton and Lawson Hutton and Two Southeast Staff at DCH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Dabbs Ave, Hueytown, AL 35023; Juvenile Diabetes, 600 Beacon Parkway W. #860, Birmingham, AL 35209; or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
