Ruth Ann Shaw Smith Johnson, 73, of Gallion, died Feb. 3, 2017, at her residence.
Ruth was born Jan. 7, 1944 in Demopolis to the late Billy Sunday and Jessie Mae Hannah Shaw.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Bibb J. Smith Jr.
She is survived by her husband, James Johnson Sr. of Gallion; sister-in-laws, Elouise Duncan of Demopolis, Elizabeth Lindsey of Gallion, and Gloria Reid of Hayden; step-mother, Dorothy Shaw; four step-children; nine step-grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 1:50 p.m. and the service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Demopolis Memorial Gardens. Brother Paul Whitcomb will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel is directing.
Active pallbearers will be Raiford Duncan, Mike Swiney, Mike McAlpine, John Paul Ward, James Johnson Jr., Doug Reid, Bobby Hannah, and Jimmy Hannah.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bernice Johnson, Linda Massey, Anna McAlpine, John Northcutt, Billy Treager Jr., and the staff at Dr. Fitzgerald Clinic.
