A Linden man was killed Sunday in a car crash just east of the city.
Maxie Lee Tatum, 32, was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. According to information provided by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Tatum was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned. The crash occurred about 2 miles eash of Linden on State Hwy. 28, near the 47-mile marker.
According to ALEA, Tatum was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, alcohol and speed are believed to be factors. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate,” an ALEA press release stated.
