The Demopolis Police Department was presented a box of Teddy Bears from The JOY Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church in Demopolis.
These special toys will be provided by police officers to children who are experiencing a crisis event.
Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese said the Teddy Bears provide comfort to childern at a time when it is most needed.
“These come in handy when we have children at the scene of an accident, fire or even a domestic violence situation where they need some reassurance and to feel some sense of safety,” Reese said. “We have used stuff animals in the past to calm a crying and scared child when they are traumatized.”
Presenting the Teddy Bears to Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese was Carolyn Glass and Sylvia Malone, members of the JOY Sunday School Class.
