Two killed in Faunsdale crash

A crash early Sunday morning near Faunsdale claimed the lives of two people, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

State troopers report that the accident occurred at 2:35 a.m. on Alabama Highway 25, near the 37 mile marker, less than 1 mile north of Faunsdale. Officials said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier and at some time caught fire. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Identification of the two victims have not been released pending confirmation from the Alabama Department of Forensics Sciences where the remains were sent due to the fire.

Alabama State Troopers said the accident happened at 2:35 a.m. on Alabama 25 near the 37 mile marker, less than one mile north of Faunsdale. Senior Trooper Reginal King said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier before catching fire.

The incident remains under investigation by State Troopers.
