On Saturday, July 22, from 8 a.m. to noon, Harris Place-Morning Star North Cemetery is seeking volunteers to help with the clearing of vegetation and weeds from the graveyard. The cemetery is overgrown with vegetation, trees, and bushes. Those who are interested in volunteering are asked to bring tools if possible.
According to organizers of the event, some of the graves at the cemetery were desecrated during the timber harvest and many headstones, monuments, grave markers, and other identifying objects was either lost or destroyed.
The cemetery is located on Dove Road between Highway 27 and Sheffield Road in Cuba. Visit www.harris-morningstar.org, contact the Miller Family at 734-730-0863, call 205-392-5905 or email to info@harris-morningstar.org for more details.
