The Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission is preparing a Human Services Coordinated Transit Plan for its 10-county region. The purpose of the plan is to identify transportation needs primarily among the elderly, disabled, and low income populations. The plan will establish goals and strategies for meeting these needs including the coordination of resources.

There will be a public meeting to gather input at Rooster Hall, 217 N. Walnut Ave. in Demopolis, on Monday, August 28, beginning at 10 a.m.

There will also be a meeting at the Thomasville City Hall, 559 W. Front St., on Thursday, August 24, at 10 a.m.

Agencies applying for Federal Transit administration (FTA) Sections 5310, 5311, 5316, and 5317 funding must participate in this process to be eligible for funding.  ATRC must hold public meetings to gather input for the plan.

The public is encouraged to attend these meetings and provide input regarding transportation needs. For more information, or for those who need special accommodations at the hearing, should contact ATRC at 334-682-4234 at least 24 prior to each meeting.
