Freddie “Bear” Mitchell, author of “The Lost Foot Soldiers: Blackballed and Exiled in America” and Demopolis native, closed out February at the Demopolis Public Library with another celebration of Black History Month on Feb. 28 at 3:30 p.m. at his book signing. To start, he read a poem of the same title that inspired his autobiography about his time as a young teenager in Demopolis participating in the Civil Rights Movement.
