Demopolis Lions Club elects 2019-20 officers

The Demopolis Lions Club recently voted in the officers for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Rodney Robbins was approved as president, with Frank Sampson and John Laney taking on the roles as first and second vice president respectively. Laney previously held the  position of president during the 2018-2019 fiscal year before passing the gavel to Robbins.

“It has been an honor to have the opportunity to serve the dedicated members of the Lions Club,” Laney said. Under his leadership, the Demopolis Lions Club completed 323 Lions Hours of service and donated a total of $2,342

Chuck Reynolds is serving as treasurer, and Kathi Wilson has accepted two positions—that of secretary and service chairperson. Teresa Boykin is membership chair, and Allen Bishop is tail twister.

Robbins said he was honored to be named president, and he plans to work to continue the Demopolis Lions Club legacy of serving the community.

“It is an honor to be elected as president of the Demopolis Lions Club. I look forward to working with my fellow Lions for the benefit of the community,” he said.

The Demopolis Lions Club is a service organization which, among many other missions, has answered the call of Helen Keller to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness” that she presented the Lions Club International Convention in 1925.  The organization has since been strong supporters of multiple vision-related missions.
