The DHS JROTC Tiger Battalion conducted the Posting of the Colors and JROTC E6 Cadet Ssg. Kennedy Thomas sang the national anthem at Comfort Care’s Veterans Café. They are pictured above with WWII veteran Freddie Gracie.
WRH CEO Doug Brewer welcomes the crowd at the hospital’s Flag Ceremony. Senior Chief Kyle Norman, Commander of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Wedge was the featured speaker for the event. Billy Drake, commander of VFW Post 3577, led the “Recognizing Our Heroes” ceremony.
The Flag Ceremony at WRH was performed by members of the United States Coast Guard Cutter Wedge; BM3 Dallas Harvey, SN Trey Strickland, FN Sam Boykin, and SN Frank Jones.

Several organizations throughout the community honored veterans with ceremonies and programs. On Thursday, Nov. 8, Senior Adults Living Triumphantly (S.A.L.T.) honored veterans with a program at the beginning of its respite program for those with dementia and other forms of memory loss. On Monday, Nov. 11, Comfort Care Hospice of Demopolis celebrated veterans with its first annual Veterans Café. Whitfield Regional Hospital hosted a Flag Ceremony and honored veterans at the event on Nov. 11, as well.
