Demopolis Kiwanis Club needs votes to win $25K
Kiwanis International is sponsoring a program to award $25,000 to an individual Kiwanis club for playground equipment. Demopolis Kiwanis Club is one of 48 clubs that have entered this contest.
In 2003 the Demopolis Kiwanis Club built a playground overlooking the waterfront of the Tombigbee Waterway. Since then, other community structures, such as a splash pad, a large pavilion, and interactive outdoor musical instruments have been added and it has become a place where Demopolis citizens can enjoy various community events. The Kiwanis Club wants to expand the existing facility with the addition of playground equipment designed for the physically challenged so that everyone can enjoy this amazing area to its fullest.
The playground equipment and facility has been well maintained since the beginning. If the Demopolis Kiwanis Club wins this contest, the installation and maintenance of the equipment would be a partnership between the City of Demopolis and the Demopolis Kiwanis Club. The playground project will be a group effort involving the Demopolis Kiwanis Club, City of Demopolis, and many other civic groups and volunteers.
Kiwanis Club President, Valley Harrison, believes the new playground equipment will help families come together in a fun and exciting way.
“Winning this contest will provide inclusive playground equipment which will allow families opportunities to spend quality outdoor time together,” said Harrison. “This much needed addition to our riverfront area shows the commitment of the City, civic clubs and volunteers in making Demopolis a great place to live.”
This facility has provided citizens a safe and fun environment for many years. The Kiwanis members are looking forward to making this facility even more enjoyable and inclusive for Demopolis citizens.
The Kiwanis Club encourages people to vote once per day per email address to help continue to the next phase of the contest. Kiwanis members encourage the community to vote as many times as possible until September 27th to support this effort.
