Marengo County’s positive cases of COVID-19 currently sit at 2,364, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health. There have been 107 new cases over the last two weeks.

As of Monday, March 1, the number of deaths related to the virus is 55. The number of people tested has increased to 4,202.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available at Whitfield Regional Hospital for persons 75 years or older, healthcare workers, and first responders. The Marengo County Health Department has information available for obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination. Visit MCHD online portal at ALCovidVaccine.gov to check your eligibility for vaccination and make appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations at county health departments. Some county health departments are providing drive-thru or walk-in clinics. Search for clinics near you using the Vaccine Clinic Dashboard or COVID-19 Table.

The vaccine is also available to frontline workers: first responders, corrections officers, food and agriculture workers, U.S. Postal Service workers, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, people who work in the education sector and judiciary employees.

COVID-19 data for surrounding counties includes Sumter County has reported 985 cases and 31 deaths; Wilcox County has 1,218 cases and 25 deaths; Greene County has 882 cases, 32 deaths; Hale County has 2,105 and 68 deaths; Clarke County, 3,436 cases and 50 deaths; Dallas County is reporting 3,403 cases with 141; Choctaw County has 551 cases and 24 deaths; and Perry County is reporting 1,056 cases with 27 deaths.

The statewide number of confirmed cases is 493,769 with 12,594 new cases over the past two weeks. There are an additional 106,836 probable cases, according to Alabama’s COVID-19 Dashboard Hub. The number of confirmed deaths in Alabama has reached 9,931 with another 2,142 listed as probable.
