Sweet Water girls defeat Demopolis 9-1 on the diamond

The Demopolis Tigers varsity girls softball team stayed in it until the end, but Sweet Water’s Lady Bulldogs pulled away late in a 9-1 victory today.
The game was tied at 1 with Sweet Water batting in the top of the sixth when Mallory Roe doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
DHS lost despite out-hitting Sweet Water 5-to-4.
Sweet Water scored five runs in the seventh inning. Megan Roe, Lydia Brewer, and Roe each had RBIs in the inning.
Roe took the win for Sweet Water. The pitcher went four and a third innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out four and walking one. Brewer threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Ashton Moorer took the loss for the Lady Tigers The pitcher allowed two hits and four runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out 12.
DHS racked up five hits in the game. Madison Ford and Wessie Lee Jacobs all had multiple hits for the Lady Tigers. Jacobs and Ford each collected two hits to lead the Lady Tigers.
Raegen Averette went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Sweet Water in hits.
