The Demopolis River City Blue Band recently traveled to San Antonio on April 6-10 to perform in San Antonio’s 2022 Fiesta Flambeau parade on April 9.
Band Booster Club president, Jessica Dial, said they arrived early on Thursday, April 7 and visited the Alamo and the river walk that afternoon. They also visited Sea World and had dinner at Dave and Busters on Friday. Saturday morning was Six Flags, and Saturday night was the main event, the largest illuminated night parade, and the final event of Fiesta, a celebration of the heroes of the Alamo.
“We had the opportunity to participate in the 2022 fiesta flambeau. There were 750,000 people in the crowd and 1.5million watching online. The crowd cheered for us every step, encouraged us towards the end when we were tired, welcomed us a million times, and thanked us,” said Dial. “We heard the crowd yelling “go Alabama,” war eagle one time, and Roll Tide a bunch. Texas was extremely welcoming and kind. They truly made us feel like rock stars. And the River City Blue performed beautifully!”
