After going on hiatus for three years due to COVID-19, the Supreme Twelve Links Association of Gallion, Alabama were able to celebrate its 120th Annual Barbecue Dinner on Friday, Aug. 11 at the Twelve-Link Dinner Grounds off Highway 43 between Linden and Demopolis.
Even though it was an incredibly warm day and annoying mosquitos were buzzing about, it was fun-filled day of excitement, delicious hickory open-pit cooked barbecue of all kinds, an Award Winning Brunswick stew, fried fish, rib sandwiches, and cold drinks.

Twelve Links member Rayvell Smith said that this year’s event was smaller than usual due to being away for three years. He said the usual build up to the event is filled with much more pageantry and many more people.
“We have people from all over that come down here. We have folks from as far off as Milwaukee and New York who make the trip down,” said Smith. “We aim to do it bigger next year and get this picnic back to what it used to be.”
The event began in 1898 when local farmers gathered at the end of the summer to celebrate the end of long summer work days.
Proceeds from the Annual Dinner will assist selected high school seniors with scholarship effects to colleges of their choices.
