Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Pecans are a staple in my family, especially around this time of year. My mom adores them and loves to buy them whenever she can.

My uncle will sometimes get buckets of pecans from where he works during the Christmas season, and sometimes we make trips to Winston’s Pecans in Thomaston to get some. These small snacks are definitely important in my family.

I think my mom has only made this recipe a few times over the years, but I know she was always satisfied with how they turned out. This recipe makes around two dozen tarts, so it’s a great treat for a big family or for parties.

Here are the ingredients you will need to make your Pecan Tarts:

Crust

  • 1 stick of margarine
  • 1 3 oz package of cream cheese
  • 1 cup of plain flour

Mix well for and chill for one hour

For the filling you will need:

  • One egg
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar and a dash of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of soft butter
  • ⅔ cup of chopped pecans

Roll the pastry into 1 inch balls and shape into muffin tins. Use about 1 tablespoon of filling in each cup. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. The recipe makes about two dozen tarts.

Finally, let the tarts cool for about five minutes and then enjoy!
