Obituary: Annie Lee Dunn

On Saturday, April 29, 2023, Annie Lee Dunn, age 94, a resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and former resident of Sweetwater, Alabama, died peacefully at the Life Care Center of East Ridge (Tennessee). In the preceding days, she was surrounded by family and friends and passed from this life with her two daughters, Judy and Pam, holding her hands.

She was born April 6, 1929, in Myrtlewood, Alabama, to Minnie and George Flowers. Annie Lee was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a nurse, bringing comfort to those in need. In addition, she worked as a nurse and she was very active in her church and community.

Annie Lee was married and widowed twice. First to Joel Curtis Barr, the father of her daughters, then to her second husband of many years, Tom Dunn, with whom she loved and cherished his children, Diane Brown (Doug), Mike Dunn (Shelly), Nita Brown (Steve), and the late Larry Dunn.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Francis Barr, Ora Wimberly, and Merle Sims and by her brothers Earl and Billy Flowers.

In addition to her children, Annie Lee is survived by Judy’s husband, Joe Oliva, Pam’s husband, Dean Teague, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Annie Lee will be interred on Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Geneva Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sweetwater, Alabama. The family will receive friends before the service from noon until 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the 1 p.m. service at Geneva.
