Everyone has some kind of home cooked food that they enjoy. There is something about home cooked food that is just better than anything you get at a restaurant or buy from the store.
One of my favorite home cooked foods is homemade biscuits. The way my mom makes her homemade biscuits makes them fluffier than frozen biscuits. Don’t get me wrong, I like the frozen ones too. We buy them all the time, as the homemade biscuits are usually reserved for the weekends.
I don’t remember the first time I had a homemade biscuit, I just know I’ve loved them for many years. Maybe my love for them started with my grandmother who used to make them all the time when I was growing up. As a kid, I used to stay at her house over the summer while my parents worked. She often liked to surprise me with homemade biscuits every now and then, and they were always a treat.
My mom uses a simple recipe to make her biscuits. It only contains three ingredients that are easy to find at the grocery store.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of self-rising flour
- Heavy whipping cream
- Melted butter/margarine
Preparation
Sift the flour in a large bowl. Make a well in the center of the flour, and add whipping cream slowly. Blend the cream and flour with a fork until it forms into dough. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, like a piece of foil spread on the counter. Use a biscuit cutter to cut the dough into desired size. Place the biscuits on a greased pan or baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter or margarine. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes until brown.
Hopefully you’ll enjoy this recipe just as much as I do.
Enjoy!
