Raiford Garfield Duncan, age 80, of Demopolis died Dec. 4 at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1943 in Tuscaloosa to Earnest Y.C. Duncan and Sallie Bell Duncan. He was a retired industrial sandblaster and painter and a member of First Baptist Church Demopolis.
He is survived by his wife, Elouise S. Duncan; two daughters, Angie Swiney (Mike) and Tionna Dickinson (Chris); sister, Elsie Collins; five grandchildren, Ashley Ryan (Ronnie), Elizabeth Rodgers, Rodney Swiney, Cade Dickinson, and Grant Dickinson; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Y.C. Duncan and Sallie Bell Duncan; brother, Lloyd Duncan; nephew, Gray Collins; and a special nephew, John Ward.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church Demopolis on Saturday, Dec. 9 with Rev. Carl Williams and Kelly Etheridge officiating. Burial followed at Demopolis Memorial Garden.
Active pallbearers were Jeff Ward, Chris Dickinson, Mike Swiney, Cade Dickinson, Grant Dickinson, and Rodney Swiney.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe and Ann Bedsole, Vice and Marilyn Pyle, Jimmy and Cheryl Hill. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be offered at www.obryantchapelfh.com.
