Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Sunday, Feb. 11 is the big day, showtime for the biggest football game in the United States. I don’t think I’m allowed to publish the name of that football game in the paper, but you know which one I am talking about. It is one of the most watched sporting events in the country and draws in millions of viewers. Many football fans across the country will be glued to their TV’s to see who wins the pro-football bragging rights for 2024.

There will also be watch parties happening everywhere on Sunday, where fans will make and eat all kinds of tailgating foods. A simple appetizer that works well for a watch party is homemade party-sized Chex mix. While it might be simpler to just buy Chex Mix from the store, and there is nothing wrong with doing that, but something about homemade food just tastes better.

So if you’re going to be watching the game this weekend and want to put your own twist on a classic party food, give this recipe a try and see how it goes with your family and guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of Corn Chex
  • 1 box of Rice Chex
  • 1 box of Wheat Chex
  • 1 bag of slim pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup of peanuts
  • 1 cup of mixed nuts or pecans
  • ¾ cups of oil (Mazola)
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons of plain salt
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire

Preparation

Put all the dry ingredients into a baking container. Then mix in the oil, garlic powder, salt, and Worcestershire. Bake in the oven for two hours at 250 degrees. Stir it occasionally. Let it cool completely before storing it in an airtight container. The container keeps the mix fresh for a long time and allows for easy serving.
