Westside Elementary School (WES) gave James Spann a big Demopolis welcome on Tuesday. He provided an informative lesson on weather and weather safety to students. Students had the opportunity to interact with Spann and view actual storm damage.

Spann has served as the Chief Meteorologist for ABC affiliate 33/40 for 25 years and can be seen on weeknights at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. In all, Spann has been a television weather anchor for 44 years. He has received the two highest awards in the nation for a broadcast meteorologist.

The staff of WES wanted to be sure that James Spann had a special taste of Demopolis, so he was gifted with “turtleback cookies” from LuLu’s Coffee Shop.
