What began in 1987 in a small room of the Parish House at Trinity Church has grown into an ecumenical ministry housed at the former Jewish Temple.

Today, the Demopolis Food Pantry serves an average of 150 families on a weekly basis.

Financial contributions from faith communities and community partners enable us to purchase groceries at a discount through the Selma Food Pantry.

Throughout the year, local organizations, businesses, and schools hold food drives to help keep our shelves stocked.

Each week faithful volunteers from local churches show up to prepare bags and distribute them to our guests.

But our guests get much more than just groceries – they get the message that they are valued and cared for.

Once a month we host a simple breakfast and a time for fellowship across the street at Trinity.

Over the past year, with grants and donations of funds and labor, we have been able to greatly improve the look and function of the Food Pantry.

We are proud of the accomplishments we have made and we’d like to share them with the community.

On Sunday, May 19 from 3-5 p.m. we will be hosting an Ice Cream Social.

We are inviting the community to come and tour the Food Pantry and celebrate with us. For more information call 334 289-3363 or email rector@trinitydemopolis.org.

We couldn’t do what we do without you! Come join in the celebration.

The Rev. Evan Thayer is the rector of Trinity Church. He can be reached at 334 289-3363.
