Demopolis High School will have a new varsity boys basketball coach next school year.

The school announced May 17 that Mike Miller has been named the new coach of the boys program.

“My wife and I are grateful to be a part of this outstanding community. It is an honor and privilege to be here at Demopolis High School,” Miller said. “I’m so excited to get to meet all the new people and build lifelong relationships. I can’t wait to get in the gym and start the process of building up the team for the winter.”

Miller is a high school graduate of W.S. Neal where he was also a standout player. He attended Coastal Alabama Community College-North where the 6-7 power forward was named the state player of the year.

He went to Murray State and played on the 2018-2019 team with Ja Morant that defeated Marquette in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a 12-seed. Miller then transferred to the University of West Alabama for his senior season where he averaged 9.6 points per game.

Miller, along with his wife Bethani and their two sons, Micah (3) and MaKhi (1), are excited to join the Demopolis community.
