Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festival returns this weekend

The Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festival is returning again this Saturday at the Demopolis Civic Center.
The event will be from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at the civic center. The event has been going on in Demopolis for at least the past 10 years.
The event is designed to showcase local songwriters, and this is one of the several Hwy. 80 Songwriters Festivals on the route. Admission is free to the event, and guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks.
Here is the set schedule for the event:
- from 7-8 p.m.: Mutt Cooper, Frank Fields and Josiah Rodda.
- from 8-9 p.m.: Mark True, Dunning/Grayson and Taylor Craven.
- From 9-10 p.m.: Daniel Houze, Dustin Pounders and Debbie Bond.
Some of the sponsors for the event include Dominos Pizza, Fleming Photography, City of Demopolis, Two Rivers Lumber, River City Inflatables/Blast Bros, Sumter Timber, H&M Construction and Pepsi Bottling of Selma.
