Scouts heading to Philmont

Four Boy Scouts from Troop 41 in Demopolis are spending two weeks hiking and camping at the Philmont Ranch in New Mexico.

They left Birmingham on July 13th. and will return home on July 26th.

The Philmont Scout Ranch is for Boy Scouts across America.

It is 200 square miles of rugged New Mexico wilderness located in the northeastern part of the state.

The scouts will be backpacking and camping across part of the southern Rockies for 11 days.

Nine scouts from the Prairie District Boy Scout Troops, which includes Demopolis, traveled to Philmont together.

The Philmont Ranch has been open to Scouts since 1938.

Over 700,000 Scouts from across American have experienced the ranch’s wilderness flavor.
