The Greensboro 7&8-year old All-Stars had hoped that lightning would strike a third time Tuesday night, but the afternoon rains would drown their luck as they fall to the undefeated Demopolis All-Stars10-2 in Game 7 of the Dixie Youth 7&8-year old Sub-District Tournament.

Greensboro, who had come into Tuesday night’s game after winning back-to-back elimination games with the Linden and Butler All-Star teams, was more than ready to surprise the tournaments only undefeated team.

But thanks to a strong defensive effort and an even stronger offensive effort by Demopolis, Greensboro’s season would come to an end.

After an hour-and-fifteen-minute rain delay, the 3-0 Demopolis All-Stars would get things started by collecting two runs in the first inning and then go on to grab three more in the third to make a 5-0 game after three complete innings.

From that point, there was no looking back for Demopolis who would collect 4 more runs in the fourth, 2 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth.

With their perfect (3-0) record, Demopolis has earned the right to play in tonight’s championship Game 8 against the 2-1 Sumter All-Stars.

Leading the way for Demopolis was third basemen Braden Spiller (), with Michael Brooker ( ) following.

For Greensboro it was Benjamin McCrary ( ) with Clayton Hall ( ) following.
