Gerald H. Bamberg

Gerald H. Bamberg, 77, of Brent, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2004, at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Shannon Allen officiating and under the direction of Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel.

He was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Perry County. His parents were Rev. Percy and Eula Mae Clinton Bamberg. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sgt. In June 1973. During his time in the service he received the Victory Medal and the Occupation Medal in 1946. He was the recipient of the Silver Star and Purple Heart in 1966.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Edith Ruth Pitts Bamberg of Brent; four sons, Gerald C. Bamberg of Brent, James P. Bamberg of Dittmer, Mo., Cecil C. Bamberg of Bessemer and Robert Dale Bamberg of Brent.; two brothers, Cecil Bamberg and Alton Bamberg, both of Lillian; three sisters, Emily Rae England of Marion, Bonnie Rogers of Prattville and Betty Horne of Montgomery; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are Daniel L. Parker, Richard L. Parker, Keith Wilson, Greg Bamberg, Chris Grindle and Bob England.

David Sidney Woods

Newbern

Daviod Sidney Woods, 81, of Newbern, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the home of his son.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2004, at Newbern Cemetery with Dr. Paul Reitzer and Arthur Noland officiating and under the direction of Lirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Barbara Morgan Woods and Evelyn Hemenway Woods; and a brother, Jack Barrett.

He is survived by two daughters, Jean Woods Watson and Sydney Woods Chasteen, both of Newbern; a son, George Brooks Woods of Newbern; a brother, Joe Barrett of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Allen, Paul Owens, Jaye Washburn, Haywood Stokes, Dusty Hogue and Joe Heurion.

Honorary pallbearers will be Archer Howell, Reginald Richardson, C.L. Tims, Pam Barnette, Ollie Evans, Betty Kirk and Wallace Hogue.
