Ruby Elizabeth Hoggle Johnson, 90, of Sawyerville passed away at her residence Jan. 10. Born April 30, 1920 in Hale County to the late Oscar Ward and Florence Pearl Adams Hoggle, she was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred Greenberry Johnson, sister Annie Pearl Yelverton and brothers James Hoggle, Stanley Hoggle and Hollis Hoggle and great granddaughter Brandy Clark. She is survived by her daughters Willie Pearl Moore of Greensboro, Alfreda J. Morris (Ottis) of Sawyerville and Betty Ann Collins (Larry) of Sawyerville, sons Alfred William “Sweet Pea” Johnson (Jayne) of Billingsley, Berry Lee Johnson (Margaret) of Moundville and Joseph A. Johnson (Glenda) of Moundville, a sister, Bettie Elmore (Jim) of Tuscaloosa, brother O’Neal Hoggle of Selma and Bobby Hoggle of Tuscaloosa, grandchildren Betty Jean Hughey (Greg), Ray Duncan (Judy), Johnny Morris, Mary Johnson, Linda Caldwell (Dennis), Leigh Ann Witherspoon (Jim), Angela Ford (Marx), Jessica Wagaman, Cory Gray (William), Brian L. Johnson, Jason A. Johnson, Erin Horne (Adam) and Charlie Collins as well as great grandchildren Travis Hughey, Kati Hughey, Alyssa Hughey, David Clark, Autumn Kitchen, Shelby Kitchen, Marlow Witherspoon, Grace Witherspoon, Jami Witherspoon, Ian Wagaman, Aubrey Wagaman, Andrew Gray, Ashlyn Gray, Collin Horne and CArson Horne. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at Bible Methodist Church in Greensboro with the Reverends Steve Vernon and Arthur Thomas officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in the Melton Community of Greensboro. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 5-7 at the funeral home. Active Pallbearers include Ray Duncan, Johnny Morris, Jim Witherspoon, Russell Weeden, Jason Johnson, Brian Johnson, Edwin Seale and Patrick Howard. Honorary Pallbearers include Tarsha Carter, Carrie Reeves, Hale County EMS, Hale County Home Health, Ralph Howard, Virgil Johnson and the congregations of the Greensboro Bible Methodist Church and the Greensboro Baptist Church.
