Doctor joins Cancer Care Center

Dr. Mathew Miceli will join Demopolis’ Cancer Care Center as a Medical Oncologist Nov. 1.

Miceli comes to Demopolis from Garden Park Medical Center in Gulfport, Miss., where he has worked for the past year.

Miceli, a native of Jamestown, NY, trained at the James Quillen College of Medicine in Tennessee before moving on to a residency with Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn.

“We’re excited about the small town charm and the atmosphere in Demopolis,” Miceli said of his family looking forward to moving to the city. “We’ve traveled to Demopolis to get a little more familiar with the area.”

Miceli will become the first full-time medical oncologist at the Cancer Care Center.

“His background and his training is just incredible,” Mike Marshall, Administrator of Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital said. “He and his family are a fantastic addition to Demopolis and he brings a lot to the healthcare here in what he knows how to do.”

Miceli and his wife, Cheryl, have two children, Gavin, 8, and Kristen, 25.
