Genevieve Y. “Aunt Bea” Lawson

Genevieve Y. “Aunt Bea” Lawson, 83, of Demopolis died Feb. 25 at her residence. Born Sept. 4, 1928 in Marengo County to the late Jessie Lavon and Reda Pearl Overstreet Yelverton.

Preceded in death by her parents, husbands Alfred Carlton Jowers and Jack Lawson, brothers Walter Yelverton, Clyde Yelverton, James Yelverton, Norman Yelverton, Billie Yelverton, Mac Yelverton and Laymon Yelverton and sister Geneva Ghio.

She is survived by her brother, Harold Yelverton of England, nephew Melvin (Terri) Yelverton of Dempolis and a special friend, Debbie Anderson of Demopolis as well as sisters-in-law Margaret Yelverton Johnson of Selma and Hilda Yelverton of Marion.

Funeral services are scheduled for Feb. 29 at 11 a.m. at Forkland United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Overstreet officiating and Kirk Funeral Home Demopolis Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Yelverton, Trey Yelverton, B.J. Pittman, Jimmy Yelverton, Tony Yelverton, Harvey Pickering, Von Yelverton and Skeeter Yelverton. Honorary Pallbearers include Comfort Care Hospice, Rodney Allen, Ray McCarter, Jimmy Marlowe and Michael Yelverton.
