Demopolis scored early. Demopolis scored often. Demopolis scored on offense and Demopolis scored from the defensive side of the ball. Demopolis scored from in close (Rick Boone 15-yard run) and Demopolis scored on a long distance dial in (Shantrell Braxton 57-yard run). Demopolis even had a touchdown called back.

Demopolis had more rushing yardage than Wilcox. Demopolis had more take aways than Wilcox. Demopolis even had more penalty yardage than the visiting Jaguars.

The lone highlight of the night for Wilcox was winning the opening coin toss. Other than that, it was all blue and white as Demopolis won a key regional game 40-6.

Wilcox won the opening toss on a perfect September evening and elected to defer to the second half.

Jeremy Wallace returned the opening kick to the DHS 47, which was the beginning of the end for WCHS. The Tigers methodically moved the ball against the Wilcox defense and with less than three minutes into the game Demarcus James bolted 17 yards for the first DHS score.

After Tyler Brooker&8217;s PAT made it to 7-0 and Jamal Bolden&8217;s kickoff rolled into the end zone for a touchback, Wilcox fumbled the ball back to Tremaine Sanders at their 28.

Five minutes later Braxton raced in from 21 yards out and Brooker&8217;s kick made it 14-0.

The next possession Wilcox quarterback Jelarrius Brewer attempted to hit a receiver in the flat only to have Tyler McAlpine make the pick in full stride and, along with two blue jerseyed escorts, race untouched 57 yards for the third Tiger score of the night.

The Jaguars were forced to punt on their next possession. The Markel Gregory kick was downed at the DHS 33. The River City Bengals then marched 67 yards capped off with quarterback Boone&8217;s 35-yard run.

Brooker&8217;s PAT completed the scoring for the first half as Demopolis led 28-0.

A light shower came down intermittently through the second quarter. But in the third quarter it began to rain heavily, not with precipitation but penalty flags. DHS was flagged for 115 yards in the third quarter alone and Wilcox got in on the action with 55 penalty step offs of their own.

Despite the abundance of penalties Demopolis scored twice in the third quarter, with Boone popping in from 15 yards out and Braxton notching his second scoring run of the game.

The Tigers were penalized for excessive celebration, which forced Brooker&8217;s last two PAT&8217;s to be attempted from field goal range &8212; both failed.

Wilcox for the final six minutes of the game tried to get on the board against Demopolis reserves and with four seconds Corey Dale finally rammed in from 4 yards out.

Demopolis moves to 3-1 on the year and 2-1 in region play, Wilcox falls to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the region.
