The biology lab at Demopolis High School will be renamed in honor of longtime educator Terry Sprinkle.

Sprinkle, who taught in the Demopolis City School System for 37 years, died in March. He retired in 2006 and was living in Fayette at the time of his death.

Demopolis High School principal Leon Clark wrote the board requesting the name change, which they approved at Monday’s meeting.

“I know he was a loyal educator for a longtime and served this community well,” said Superintendent Al Griffin.

Griffin said he expects there will be some kind of formal dedication at a later date.

In other business, the board took the following auctions:

•Heard an audit report from Jim Gardner of Mason, Gardner CPA’s, LLC. Gardner said this year’s audit was “clean” and that there were no accounting issues.

“We had no findings to report,” Gardner told the board.

•The board also approved a Walt Disney World field trip for Demopolis Middle School students in April 2013 and overnight travel from DHS cheerleaders to go to a camp at Auburn University later this month.
