Along with being one of the most consistent players in the area in an often overlooked position, catcher, Christopher Sammons also proved during the West Alabama Babe Ruth under 14 all-star team&8217;s state tournament appearance that he is a consistent threat on offense.

Sammons tied for the top batting average at the tournament with .500, well above the team average of .333. During the team&8217;s four games he had 12 at bats and six hits.

The tournament didn&8217;t start well for Sammons, however, and in the first game against Semmes, where the team fell 7-6, he went 0-4 in hits but recorded two base on balls.

He proved his mettle against in the group&8217;s third game against Alexander City, though the group fell, 6-3. Sammons went 2-4 with a triple and a single.

In the teams fourth and final game of the tourney against Huntsville, where West Alabama won, 9-5, Sammons went 1-4. His single hit was a double.

Sammons also found his way across the plate eight times after his 12 at bats during the tournament, more than a fifth of the team&8217;s 37 points.
