DEMOPOLIS &8212; The Rotary Club chose Dr. Arthur Ogden as its Rotarian of the year and announced the award at its meeting Tuesday.

Members of the club all voted on which member they feel contributed the most to the club during the year and the winner is named the Rotarian of the year. Rotary Club President Susan Grayson said the winner is chosen from among club members that do not hold an office and have most exhibited the club motto over the year.

Grayson said Ogden has put in a tremendous amount of work for the club during the year. She said he designs and prints the clubs bulletins for its meetings, all at the cost of personal time and expense.

Ogden said the award is a very prestigious award for members of the club, as it shows the club&8217;s appreciation of the individual&8217;s service. Grayson said aside from the club bulletin, Ogden has participated in a number of events the club has organized this year.

Ogden has been involved with the Rotary Club for 26 years. He said he first joined the organization in Arcola, Tenn., in 1981. Since joining he said has been in numerous clubs in different parts of the country as he has moved around.

Ogden joined the Demopolis organization three years ago, with member Jay Shows as a sponsor, when he moved to the area to become director of the Demopolis campus of Alabama Southern.
