Movies Under the Stars set for tomorrow

DEMOPOLIS &8212; The community is invited to experience a Movie Under the Stars hosted by the Demopolis Parks and Recreation Friday at the City Landing.

Pettus said the community is also encouraged to support the Demopolis High School JV Cheerleaders who will be selling popcorn, candy and cokes during the event.

The event will feature the movie, &8216;Night at the Museum&8217;, starring Ben Stiller. The movie is a wonderful family, comedy feature. Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke and Robin Williams co-stars in the film.

The festivities start at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at sundown.

The event is part of SouthernLINC Wireless&8217;s third annual season of Movies Under the Stars, a series of family-oriented films offered to the public to view free of charge on a giant inflatable movie screen at outdoor venues throughout the Southeast. This year&8217;s movie series includes the popular films &8220;Night at the Museum,&8221; &8220;Happy Feet,&8221; and &8220;Charlotte&8217;s Web.&8221;

In addition to the featured film, the Movies Under the Stars evening will include a live radio remote (WINL) and give-a-way items.

Pettus said SouthernLINC Wireless approached the park about hosting the event free of charge.

SouthernLINC will host a total of 21 events this year in Alabama and Georgia, including evenings in Thomasville and Tuscaloosa.

Movies Under the Stars attendees also have an onsite opportunity to enter &8220;The Fishing Trip of a Lifetime&8221; sweepstakes sponsored by SouthernLINC Wireless. Professional bass fisherman Tom Mann Jr. and outdoor enthusiast O&8217;Neill Williams have teamed together to take one lucky winner and a guest on an all-expense paid fishing trip off St. Simons Island, Ga.

The winner and a guest will fly into Jacksonville, Fla. and accommodations will be provided to the luxurious King and Price Golf Resort on St. Simon&8217;s Island, Ga.

O&8217;Neill Williams will be filming his cable television program &8220;O&8217;Neill Outside&8221; during this trip, so the winner and guest will appear in a 2008 episode.
